Verticillium Wilt
This disease may be a problem. Verticillium wilt causes yellowing of the foliage and wilting. In severe cases entire plants may die off. Fungicides are generally not economical for control of Verticillium wilt.
The disease may be controlled through the use of resistant cultivars and pathogen-free plants. Among the recommended cultural measures for preventing the disease are: removal of diseased plants or plant debris and the careful use of nitrogen containing fertilizers. Soil solarization (by covering the soil with transparent polythene sheets during summer) in sunny climates also can be helpful.
